Honoring the Human-Animal Bond:

Expert Guidance & Support

Speciality Care
with a Licensed Psychologist

Has your life been touched by the love and bond with
an animal companion?

Our practice specializes in the human–animal bond across the lifespan. We understand how deeply meaningful this relationship is, and how profoundly the loss of a pet can affect every part of your life. If you’re navigating complicated thoughts, overwhelming emotions, or finding it hard to move forward, we’re here to help. We offer compassionate pet loss therapy and grief counseling with a skilled, experienced licensed psychologist.

We walk alongside you with genuine care, insight, and professional guidance personalized to you, so you don’t have to face this life-altering experience alone.

If you or a loved one are experiencing any of the following, we are here to help:

  • Anticipatory grief

  • Intense sadness, emptiness, or emotional numbness

  • Guilt, self-blame, or second-guessing medical or end-of-life decisions

  • Grief after euthanasia, sudden loss, illness, or a traumatic death

  • Anger, shock, or lingering "what if" thoughts

  • Complex trauma or mental health symptoms triggered by a companion's well-being or loss

  • Feeling misunderstood, unsupported, or judged by others

  • Difficulty with daily routines including changes to sleep, appetite, or focus

  • A deep sense of loneliness in your grief

Pet loss grief is often misunderstood or minimized, leaving many people to grieve in silence. The bond you share with your animal companion is real, meaningful, and deeply significant…and so is your grief.

Working with a licensed psychologist who specializes in the human-animal bond gives you a safe space to process both the relationship and loss. Here, your experience will be met with empathy, compassion, validation, and guided support to help you work through this significant life transition…meeting you exactly where you are in the healing journey.

We support pet parents of all companion species, as well as speciality care for people who work closely with animals including DVMs, veterinary technicians, assistants, and people committed to animal rescue work. Whether you are grieving a soul pet, an emotional support companion, trained service animal, anticipating loss in the near future, or work in animal wellness fields, with years of experience we are honored to provide psychological care tailored to your unique needs.

Dr. Bennett has been an active member of the Association for Pet Loss and Bereavement since 2017 and has volunteered with farm animal rescues, including her beloved: Critter Creek Animal Sanctuary in Gainesville, Florida.

Beyond her extensive experience as a skilled counseling psychologist, Dr. Bennett draws on her own experience of profound love and loss of beloved companions across the years, which has given her firsthand insight into the depth and complexity of animal-related grief. Inspired by her own journey, she is dedicated to helping others honor the enduring bond shared between humans and animals of all kinds.
